A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief

This tune is called Duane Street.

But I know it best as A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief.

It's generally played a little slower, but I like to speed it up and turn it into an Irish jig.

With Thanksgiving approaching, I’ve been thinking a lot about how blessed I am and this song has come to mind several times because of its imagery of being able to share my blessings. Which is a major reason I choose to write.

Right now, I’m grateful for the simple things. My supportive family, a stable job, a healthy mind and body, the ability to pursue my passions and a country that provides safety, peace and the freedom to worship as I choose.

Those are all big, omnipresent things in my life, making them easy to overlook. But, they’re in the fabric of everything I do and. I’m grateful for this time of year that invites me to reflect on my blessings and my priorities.

What simple convenience are you grateful for?

Following up on my Ukrainian friends

Anna and Sasha are arriving in the US tomorrow and we couldn’t be happier.

We now have a Go Fund Me campaign set up for them, in addition to the Amazon wishlist. They definitely need help getting started in their new life. So if you’re in a position to donate, please do. If not, prayers are better anyway.

On a personal note:

My kid typed on a keyboard for the first time. I couldn’t be more proud.
