Any sufficiently Advanced Technology…

What if people called everything magic unless they worked in a given field and earned the right to call it science or technology?

All scientists would be called Artificers, Enchanters, Sorcerers, etc. unless they were referring to a colleague/peer within their own field. In which case they could call them Engineers, Programmers, Researchers, etc.

Because I’m an electronics engineer, I could still call cell phones and smart devices technology. But, complex computer programs? That’s absolute sorcery done by master enchanters.

As an added benefit, no one could accuse anyone else of “denying the science”, as if they actually understood the stuff to begin with.

What normal things are magical to you? (I’m still amazed by static electricity and magnets.)
